Easter Recap

We had such a great Easter weekend and I took too many pictures not to share.  We actually kicked off the Easter festivities a week early and went up to Ryan's parents barn with all his family on Sunday.  We had the annual egg hunt (I found the golden egg, woohoo!!), had way to much fun with confetti eggs and of course, Henry loved on his Nana.

On Thursday afternoon my mom, Ryan and I went to Henry and Charlie's school for an egg hunt and Easter party. Henry really has the "hunting for eggs" thing figured out this year and managed to bring home lots of candy.

We were getting a little greedy towards the end...

They even had an egg hunt for the babies ;)

On Saturday we went to Easter brunch with my parents.  As expected, Henry was terrified of the Easter bunny (see here - Santa 2013, Easter 2013, Santa 2012) and if we wanted a picture one of us had to hold him.  If I'm going to be in the picture with the bunny so is Ryan :)

I can't get over how grown up my baby looks here!

We hunted eggs (again!) but this time did not manage to get as many eggs.  I think it was a little too crowded in this area and Henry much preferred to have the wide open field for hunting...

After brunch we went and picked up my Grandmother and dyed eggs while the guys went golfing.

Henry had a great time coloring the eggs and only managed to drop 1!

Henry did not have much of nap that day which led to some misbehaving on his part...

When you repeatedly throw your cars in the pool after being told no you will end up in time out! Not sure how effective this was but we tried...

It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed a steak dinner on the patio :)

The next morning the Easter bunny came and brought lots of goodies. Henry found the few eggs that had been hidden that morning and managed to consume enough chocolate for all of us!

We went to church and both boys ended up staying with us.  Drop off in the nursery did not go well so I gave in and let him come with us.  He actually made it halfway through the service and as soon as the sermon started he was done with sitting still and Ryan and him left.  Charlie smiled at all the old ladies and then took a little snooze and did great!

We snapped a pic with the cousins after the service...

And attempted one as our first Easter as a family of 4...

After church we came back and had lunch at my parents and then took a long walk late afternoon to attempt and work off all the calories we had consumed all weekend.  We were also hoping the boys would take a much needed nap.  Success!

It truly was a great weekend and I'm so thankful to celebrate Easter with our families.  Especially these two :)

Big Brother Update

I've been meaning to write a big brother update for the past 6 weeks but honestly have not had the time or energy to sit down and write it.  Believe me, I'm taking pictures and capturing all the fun memories of life with a two year old but have simply not put anything on the blog.  I hate that I've been bad about keeping up with this as I love looking back and reading posts and seeing pictures but it's just been hard.  It is hard to keep up with the blog when I'm still getting up with Charlie during the night and not getting a good nights sleep.... Hard to keep up with the blog after working all day... Hard to keep up with the blog when I want to spend the few hours I have in the evening with my boys.... Hard to keep up with the blog when all I want to do after they finally go to sleep is lay on the couch....

With all that being said, we are managing.  And we are getting into a new routine. And the boys are thriving.  Henry is at such a fun age and that is what I want to remember.  I may not be able to write lengthy posts but for now I'm happy with posting pictures of our life with this sweet boy. I will remember the moments and memories and that is what matters most :)

Charlie at Four Months...

Charles Davis... you are four months old!
I am loving this new phase as you are so smiley and truly a happy boy.  Life is more predictable now and it's much easier to be out and about with you.  You are doing great at daycare which is such a relief to me.  Rumor is you have quite a few fans at school and all the teachers love to come see you.  You seem to be quite the ladies man as you're always flashing them your sweet smile :)

You weigh 14 1/2 pounds are wearing size 3-6 month clothes.   A lot of your clothes are hand-me-downs from Henry and I have to say it will probably be that way most of your life growing up. Since you were both born in the same season we're able to use everything again with you.  I promise we have given you a few new things of your own though :)

You are taking 5 ounces of formula every 2 1/2 - 4 hours and soon we'll start you on rice cereal and introduce other foods for you.  I can't believe we're already at this point.  I'm excited to start this adventure with you but also a little hesitant as I know how messy it can be!

I wish I could say you are sleeping through the night but that's not the case.  You go down around 7:30-8 every night and usually wake up between 2 and 3 a.m. wanting to eat.  You seem to take most of the bottle so I feel like I can't deprive you of this and let you cry it out.  I'm thinking that once we start you on rice cereal soon that will help keep your tummy full until morning.   You wake up in the morning between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m and give the biggest grin and stretch when I unzip your swaddle.

You have rolled over from your tummy to back a few times for us and I'm sure you'll be rolling all over the place here soon.  You are much happier now on your tummy than you used to be but still prefer to be on your back on your play mat.

Naps are still not consistent and most of your naps are taken in your bouncy chair or your car seat. You have taken a few naps in your crib but never a long one.  You also seem to nap more at daycare than you do at home on the weekends so I'm not sure what their trick is!  I think you're probably just too afraid to miss something when you're home with us :)

You have started drooling like crazy and want to always put your fingers in your mouth.  It seems early for you to be teething but maybe not.  The fact that your fingers are always in your mouth and that you have now been at daycare 5 weeks can only mean one thing... germs!  You picked up your first nasty cough and a cold this past week and we ended up at the after hours clinic on a Friday night. You were all smiles for the nurse and didn't seem phased that you had two ear infections and had to do breathing treatments.  You seem to be on the mend though and I'm thankful you handled it so well!

This has been such a fun month and I know it's only going to get better from here.  Love you Charlie boy!
