Charlie's Nursery

When I found out we were having another boy I knew I wanted to keep the nursery the same for the most part.  I have always loved that room and was excited that I actually got to keep it that way for a little longer.  While most of it looks the same as when Henry was in there, I did add a few things to make it unique to Charlie.

When I put the room together for Henry, I kept it mostly soft blues and neutrals and most of my inspiration came from Restoration Hardware.  I have since added more pops of color to the room because let's be honest, most of the books and baby gear is bright and full of color!  I wanted the room to be sweet but also functional.  And most of the time I have a bright play mat right in the middle of the room :)

And of course I have to include a picture of sweet Charlie in his crib :)

Hooray for Sleep!

We have big news around here... Charlie slept for 8 1/2 hours last night and we are all sooo happy!

He's been giving us longer stretches lately but last night he went down around 10 and woke up at 6:30.  We actually started his bedtime routine around 8:30 and it was finally 10 that we got him down for good. I'd prefer him to go to bed a little earlier but if it means sleeping through the night, I'll take it.

I actually feel a little silly because I switched him to a different swaddle last night and I wish I would have done this earlier.  The first time Henry slept through the night was with this swaddle and I'm not sure why it took me so long to use it on him.  I've been using a similar version but this one is fleece and I think it holds him in tighter and he's not able to get his hands free.

In other news, I took this picture of Charlie on the right and can't believe how similar it looks to Henry as a baby (on the left).  Henry was 10 weeks when the picture was taken and Charlie will be 8 weeks tomorrow.  I know they looked alike as babies but it's crazy when you actually put their pictures side by side!

Breakfast with Santa

This past Saturday morning we went to Breakfast with Santa with my parents at their neighborhood clubhouse. My parents took us last year and it's a fun tradition I look forward to continuing.  I was a little worried about us getting dressed and out the door before 9 am but somehow we managed and even had time to snap a few pics by the tree :)

Charlie stayed in his car seat most of the time but we did get a pic of Henry with my parents while waiting in line to see Santa.

Henry did not do well on Santa's lap last year and this year proved to be the same.  Henry wouldn't even let go of Ryan so instead of Henry sitting on Santa's lap Ryan got to sit in the chair.  Santa was sneaky though and stood behind the chair so Henry wouldn't even know he was in the pic.

We didn't get the crying on Santa's lap picture this year but I love this pic as well.  Henry clearly looks thrilled :)

And one pic of our family of four!

They even had a reindeer outside that Henry loved!  He wasn't crazy about leaving but we decided it was time since he kept trying to stick his hand in the cage :/

It was a great morning and hopefully next year we'll get a pic of both boys on Santa's lap with smiles.  Wishful thinking, I know :)

Charlie's Family and Friends

We were so grateful to have our friends and family visit us while in the hospital and when we first got home.  Everyone has been a huge help over the last 10 days and we really appreciate all the love and support!

We don't have many pictures of right when Charlie was born partly due to the fact that it happened so quick and then partly because I refused to let Ryan take any pictures of me at that point.  We were able to grab a few hours of sleep late that morning and then shower before visitors starting arriving :)

In love with our newest son...
