Fall Decor

I love this time of year and now that it is officially October I am putting some finishing touches on my fall decor.  I can't take credit for all of this as my mom surprised me when we got home last weekend from our trip and had bought some pumpkins and put together some cute arrangements.  She's also responsible for the candy on our counter that Henry is constantly begging for :)

I love looking at this picture of him in his monkey costume from Halloween last year...

Arrangement on our dining room table...

Can't ever have too many pumpkins around the house :)

I bought this banner from Pottery Barn this year and I also bought one that says Give Thanks that I will bring out after Halloween...

And of course I can't have a post without a picture of this cute boy!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Henry's First Road Trip

Henry made his first official road trip last weekend to Tulsa, OK.  It was such a last minute trip and while I was a little hesitant at first I'm so glad we went.  Last Monday Ryan suggested that we go to Arkansas to watch the A&M game on Saturday and I thought he was crazy.  A few hours later.... we pretty much had everything in place. We had a few different options but ended up deciding to take Henry along with us and would stay with our good friends Anna and Reid in Tulsa.  They hadn't seen Henry in awhile and we would be able to visit my Grandmother who also lives there.  The best part about this plan was that Reid would go to the game with Ryan on Saturday so I got out of that :)

The plan was to leave Thursday after work and drive to Dallas.  We were hoping if we at least split up the drive on the way there Henry would do better.  And while he ended up doing great on the first part of the trip and sleeping most of the way, our trip didn't start out so well as you can see below....

My mom had picked Bennett up before we headed out and Henry had the meltdown of the century when she left our house.  He loves his Mimi and couldn't understand why she was leaving him then.  So the first part of our trip was a little rough but he soon calmed down...

Of course when we arrived in Dallas around 10:30 Henry woke up and was wide awake once we got to the room. He was so excited to be in a new place and wanted to check everything out in the room.  I've never known a room to have so many lights, buttons and switches and I'm pretty sure we played with them all. Ryan and I were pretty exhausted at this point but Henry wanted nothing to do with his pack n play and going to sleep.  He ended up sleeping in our bed that night and I will say that it will be the last time.  I really don't know how people let their kids sleep with them because Henry was ALL over me at night.  Anytime I rolled over or moved he had to get even closer to me to make sure I was still there.  I'm sure he was a little nervous about the new environment that night but I think that was the worst night of sleep I have had in a long time!

The next morning we grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel and snapped a few pics before heading out.

The plan was to go to the Dallas Arboretum and let Henry run around before putting him back in the car for the rest of the drive to Tulsa.  Ryan and I had never been to the arboretum but have heard great things and it definitely did not disappoint.  They had all their pumpkins out and it was fun to see everything.  Of course Henry had more fun picking up dirt, pushing his stroller and throwing the pumpkins but I did manage to get one picture of him smiling and sitting still.

After the arboretum we loaded back up in the car and grabbed a quick lunch before hitting the road.  I was hoping Henry would sleep since it was nap time but he was more interested in playing peek a boo and checking out all the trucks that drove by us.
We had also loaded up the iPad with some of his favorite shows which was a great idea...

We arrived in Tulsa around 3:30 and made a stop to visit my Grandmother.  It was great to see her and my Uncle and Henry made himself right at home in her apartment.  I was afraid he was going to be shy which was definitely not the case!

Later that afternoon we headed over to Anna and Reid's new house to meet up with them after they got home from work.  They recently moved into a new house and it is beautiful!  We had a good time catching up and chatting in their kitchen before heading out to dinner.  We decided to try a local pizza place which was delicious. Unfortunately this was the only picture I took with Anna but I promise to take more when we go back up there in two weeks!

The next morning we headed out for a walk which is always one of our favorite things to do and stopped at brunch afterwards.  Of course it started pouring while we were there and had to wait it out before we could head back. Henry had a great time playing in the rain but it didn't seem to be clearing up anytime soon so Ryan made a quick dash back to their house to pick up the car and come back and get us :)

Ryan and Reid left for Arkansas around noon and Anna and I decided to take Henry to the Aquarium since it was still raining.  This was a first for Henry and I must say that he loved it.  I'm pretty sure the Stingrays were his favorite...

Checking out the fish with Anna :)

Later that afternoon we came back to let Henry nap and watched the OU game.  Henry was still exhausted after his nap that he even fell asleep on me afterwards which he never does!

That evening we met up with Anna's family and went to dinner.  It was great to see them and Henry had a great time at the restaurant.  He was definitely the entertainment for the evening.

Ryan and Reid had a good time at the game and I'm thankful the Aggies won.  I'm also thankful Reid took my place because I would have not made the whole game in the rain while standing up!

We didn't hang around long the next morning as we wanted to go ahead and get on the road.  I was dreading this drive the most but honestly it went surprising well.  Henry was so exhausted from the weekend that he slept the first three hours in the car.  We then stopped for lunch when he woke up and picked up some ice cream before heading out.  Of course Henry was sporting maroon on that Sunday :)

He was awake for the rest of the trip but did great.  We read lots of books, watched shows, colored, played with stickers and of course had a lot of snacks.  While we had a few rough moments I must say Henry did great in the car and we ended on a much better note than when we started :)

It truly was a great trip and a lot of memories were made this past weekend.  I'm so thankful Anna and Reid were able to host us on such short notice and I loved being able to bring Henry up there.  I just hope we didn't push back their timeline on having kiddos with this crazy man :)

28 Weeks

This past Sunday marked 28 weeks which means I'm officially in the third trimester... Let the countdown begin!  I went to the doctor this week and all is going well.  I will have an ultrasound at my next appointment and then I'll start seeing her every two weeks.  I can't believe we're already at this point.  Where did the time go?

I can definitely tell my belly is getting larger and I'm now at the point where almost everyone feels the need to comment on my pregnancy.  They are constantly asking when I'm due and seem surprised when I tell them I still have 12 weeks to go.  Makes me a little nervous to think what this belly will look like at 40 weeks.  The next question is if it's a boy or girl and then the look on their face when I'm telling them it's another boy and that Henry and this baby will only be two years apart is very sympathetic.  They try to be upbeat but I know what they are really thinking.... Yes, I know it will be a little crazy at first when they are young but I also know we'll survive and that they will love having a brother close in age.  It just may require a lot of wine in the evenings for Ryan and I :)

Sleeping has become harder lately and I find myself waking up several times during the night to go to the bathroom and then I can't fall back asleep quickly.  I have a hard time getting comfortable and it doesn't help that there is a certain big black dog that is taking up all my leg room!

All in all, things continue to go well and no major complaints here.  Just looking forward to meeting this sweet baby boy!

Twenty Two Months

Henry Ryan... you are twenty two months old!

It's hard to believe you are two months shy of your 2nd birthday.  It seems like just last month that we were planning your 1st birthday party!  I can truly say that each month gets better and better.  You are expressive, sweet, funny and such a happy boy.  You definitely have your moments when you melt down for not getting your way but we're working through that.  It seems that it is happening more and more lately but I'm afraid that just comes with your age.

Everyday when you come home from daycare you ask for juice, a snack and grab the remote so you can watch TV.  You love to watch Disney Junior and a few of your favorite shows are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Chuggington, Little Einsteins and Sofia the First.  This actually works out well because it lets me change clothes and then get dinner started.

Speaking of dinner.... Boy, you love to eat!  If it's something you like you are asking for "more" and saying please.  A few of your favorites continue to be waffles, hot dogs, cheese, grapes, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and spaghetti o's.  We need to work on adding more veggies to your diet but they tell me you are at least eating this at school.  You also discovered purple skittles recently which makes me happy since they happen to be a favorite of mine as well.  We just have to hide the bag from you because you would eat them all if we let you!

I know I've talked about your love for being outside which hasn't change.  One of your favorite toys continues to be your lawnmower and you whip this out as soon as you see Daddy out in the yard mowing. You would stay outside as long as we let you regardless of the temperature.  You are so determined to be just like him and love to push your mower around.  It's even been known to make it in the house on several occasions....

You love to take baths but would prefer to take a shower now.  We thought it would be a good idea and quick to put you in the shower with us and now you are obsessed!  You would stand under that water forever if we let you.  We can't even say the word shower around you because you are peeling off your clothes and shoes ready to get in.

Cooking is a new favorite hobby of yours.  If I'm making dinner you have to have your pots out and some kind of food to put them in.  The other day I discovered that you had grabbed tortillas out of the pantry and placed one in each pot.  You were so proud of yourself!  All was going well until Bennett discovered the tortillas and ate them.... Melt down followed!

As far as stats, you are wearing 18-24 mth clothes and even some 2T and you weigh about 28 pounds.  You just moved up to size 5 diapers and are now in size 5.5/6 shoes.  You have 9 teeth which includes the top molars in the back.  Where did my baby go?? I can't believe you are such a little boy now and while it makes me a little sad I truly love watching you grow up.  You have a small vocabulary but I'm amazed with how much you understand from us.  I know it's not long before you'll be speaking in short phrases and sentences. I'm also amazed by your knowledge of technology already.  You love to play with my phone and even know how to scroll through the apps.  I think it's time I start downloading some apps for you to play with!

You are all boy and love to play with your trucks and mimic the sounds they make.  Your favorite books even revolve around trucks and we will read Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel and Little Blue Truck several times at night before going to sleep.

I mentioned up top that you are such a happy boy which is oh so true.  You love to smile, giggle and laugh and still love to pump your arms up and down when you are excited.  Nothing makes us happier.  I can't believe you are so close to being two and we're trying to soak up this age with you as well as our time as a family of three. Love you H Man!!

Gameday Gear

I picked up a new OU shirt for Henry while in Norman and we are officially decked out in our gameday gear to cheer on the Sooners.  Boomer!

The only problem is my little Sooner fan only made the first quarter before falling asleep in his highchair....

I'm sure he'll be up and ready to watch Johnny cheer on the Ags against Alabama at 2:30.  And yes, even though Ryan is actually at the game we'll be making an outfit change and wearing maroon :)

Life Lately

I didn't mean to go two weeks without posting but that's what happens when you're 6+ months pregnant with a toddler running around while your husband studies every night for the CPA.  So what's new with us?  Not much honestly.  I do have a few cute pics I want to post and thought I would share a few things going on with us.  I plan on using bullet points so don't get too excited :)

  • It's September!  Time for fall, sweaters, football and candy corn.  Now if only the temperature would drop below 100 so we could really get excited about the upcoming season.
  • Henry may not be potty trained but he definitely knows how to flush the toilet, wave his hands and say bye bye as the water goes down.  Mimi taught him that so maybe she'll teach him how to actually use the potty as well??? Wishful thinking on my part...
  • Ryan has officially taken two out of the four tests as part of the CPA.  I can definitely say this seems worse than him being in class since he literally studies every night and several hours every Saturday and Sunday. The plan is for him to take the last test just weeks before the baby should be born so we're crossing our fingers he passes them all!  We're going to need all hands on deck with two kiddos in the house.
  • I am going to Norman, OK next week for work and I'm so excited to be back on campus for a few days.  I'm looking forward to seeing a good friend while I'm there and hitting up some of my favorite stores on Campus Corner.  I'm also on the lookout for a new game day shirt for Henry.
  • I know I've mentioned here before that Henry loves to be outside but I think we've reached a new level.  He is obsessed.  He could care less that it's 100+ degrees outside and he's sweating.  He just loves to be outside.  This makes it a little challenging when you're pregnant with a large belly but we've managed to get out as often as possible.  It may only be a short walk to the mailbox but at least both Henry and Benny are happy :)
  • Party planning for Henry's 2nd Bday is officially underway.  I know this fall is going to get crazy so it's never too early to start planning.  We're thinking of doing a firetruck theme.  Anytime Henry hears a siren he puts his finger in the air and waves it in a circle while mimicking the sound of a siren. It seriously is the cutest thing ever.
  • In baby news, Ryan and I have decided on a name and even purchased something with his initial.  We've actually decided to keep it a surprise so sorry for making everyone wait!
  • And lastly, Henry and I wore matching green shirts today.  I couldn't resist getting a quick pic with this cutie before heading out the door.  Love him so!

Have a great rest of the week! Thank goodness it's almost Wednesday :)
